Kelley Asburry, MSW, LCSW is the founder and owner of North Valley Center for Hope. The private practice was birthed in May 2021 after a series of professional and personal journeys that lead to its creation. She is also an AZ board approved Clinical Supervisor for the State of Arizona.
Kelley’s first experience in working with traumatic losses began while assigned to the Phoenix Fire Department's Crisis Response (CR) Unit during her graduate internship In 2010. There she recognized the essential need for individuals in crisis to have a mindful and attentive therapeutic presence on the very worst day of their life. This experience so profoundly affected her that she knew from that point on that working in the area of crisis, grief and trauma is where she needed to be.
Since that time Kelley focused her efforts by gaining more specialized and advanced training in traumatic grief, including becoming a Certified Grief Educator by author David Kessler and Certified Compassionate Care (CBC) provider from the Miss Foundation. She has worked in emergency rooms for over a decade providing crisis intervention and therapy with those bereaved.
Kelley has worked closely with those who have experienced losses due to miscarriage/stillborn, suicide, homicide, overdose, accidental death, medical malpractice, cancer, child loss and prolonged illness.
Kelley also has experience working with high profile clientele involved in a loss and needing special accommodations due to privacy and/or intrusion of media coverage. Kelley believes in a collaborative approach to grief work and designs her care to each individual as everyones experience and background is unique so they feel safe and secure.
Kelley's desire to focus her private practice on grief and loss has been strongly shaped by several personal losses including her longtime childhood friend of 15 years, her father to cancer in his 50’s and brother, by suicide.
